I have been working with Old Dominion Brewery In Dover, DE over the last month. One of my main responsibilities is to film and edit their weekly youtube shows. They are typically 2-3 mins long and they go for the fun, informational, home video approach.
Check out the newest Old Dominion Weekly video by yours truly. New videos every Wednesday on the Old Dominion Channel. Stay tuned.
It has been forever since i have participated in Illustration Friday. I was waiting for a client to email me back so i decided to make good use of my downtime. I’m going to be the first one to criticize this piece. It is so technically wrong – but it was fun. It only took about 25 minutes hence the reason why its all over the place… Lighting is off, same bee in every instance, amoung other things. It’s kind of like a monet painting (haha)…Looks ok from a distance.
In any case, it feels good to get something up here..First one of 2011..Enjoy
I just got done doing a series of logos for some clients. I love doing them but they are honestly one of the hardest projects to work on for a client. They are very conceptual and sometimes very time consuming.
I recently read on a design blog about a common misconception business owners have when either starting a new business or rebranding.
It was called the BRAND POWER. Basically, in short it goes on to talk about how businesses think that their logo is the entire being of their companies branding when in actuality, its probably the most minor part of the entire process. Not to mention that us graphic designers sometimes take the fault of a logo that was considered a “failure” due to the brand failing.
It gave prime examples of companies with Enourmous brand power.
McDonalds, NIKE, Coca-Cola and GAP (there are so many others)
They noted some great lines within the article that I’d like to end this post with.
Brand is not a mark, it LEAVES a mark
Companies make logos, CUSTOMERS make brands
Logo is an illustration, brand is a VISION
Logos project, brands PROTECT
I thought these were great and worthy of sharing… Here is the entire article for those interested.
Wow, it’s been a really long time since I’ve posted anything lately. One of my new years resolutions is to stay on top of these kind of things. I’ve been really busy, which is a good thing, but I simply cannot push things like these aside.
In any case, here are some of the things I’ve been working on. I have been doing a lot of work with musicians and fashion companies. Hope you enjoy and Happy New Year!

This is my design post for Illustration Friday this week. The concept is “RACE”…
I would love to work for Under Armour one day so that I could design things like this on stadium billboards. Hopefully their current designer will one day get bored of his job and leave so that they can call me. I have sent my resume at least a dozen times (haha). I even went to the University Of MD where the CEO attended. That has no pull. Until then, I pretend
Old-Fashioned concept for illustration friday.. I have been swarmed the last few weeks so I really haven’t been partaking. This is a really quick design ( about 1hr) because I really wanted to get back on the IF wagon.
Everything was done in photoshop with a film grain filter added at the end.
This isn’t nearly as complete as I would have liked but time really isn’t an option this week ..I guess that’s a good thing!
My design for this weeks Illustration Friday – Proverb
The proverb I selected is the ever so famous, “Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder”.
This is my very first attempt with a drawing tablet. Yes, I know, I am light years behind. I do a lot more digital manipulation than actual illustration, so there is my excuse! Anyhow, I got the Wacom Bamboo about 3 weeks ago. I have messed with it here and there but this is the first full attempt I’ve made so be easy on me! I def. have a lot of practice to do. It’s not as easy as I thought it would be. Im sure the more I mess with it, the more steady I’ll become.
Sorry for the lack of imagry, it was a pain just to get it to where it is now. If I decide to pick back up on it, I’ll repost.
This weeks IF concept was dessert. Just getting back from the beach, the ocean is still on my mind. This is obviously the reason for my approach. Went for the old school film grain poster look.
Sorry so late and so sloppy… Still in vacation mode!
So we just got back from the Outer Banks. This was my first OBX experience. AMAZING! Nothing like what I expected. Our house was spectacular. We were 8 miles from the nearest paved road. Our only way to civilization was an 8 mile beach/baja ride along the water. We rented a Jeep Wrangler because the VW was not going to cut it.
Pure relaxation. No email, no phone, no TV. Just the sun, the dogs, my fiance and our neighbors. Every day was beautiful until our nemesis EARL decided to pay us a visit. On thursday morning, we were evacuated from heaven and told to head back to the real world. Despite the short stay (5 days instead of 7) we decided it was a place we would love to go visit again.
If you have never been to the Outer Banks, I would highly recommend it. Tourists do not exist, boardwalk to not exist. Just the amenities that mother nature has to offer. It was truly a great way to relax.
